Problem Rides.
On this page we try to
sort out riders problems and try to get details of any problems
with tracks, bridleways, access, etc.
Please read through the
list and if you have ANY experience of the bridleways / routes
already listed, good or bad, please let us know. We
need as much input from riders as possible. Routes that have
been ridden during the past 20 years can be researched and stand
a good chance of being looked at by the council if we can
provide details of SIX or more people that have used a track in
the last TWENTY years. Please do not think that there are
probably lots of people that have ridden it who will write in -
and not bother to contact us yourself. The more evidence we have
the easier our job and the faster you can ride and enjoy
our beautiful countryside. Please email us ASAP and we
will let you know what information we need.
If there are any routes
that you have been riding and it is now blocked or you are
having difficulties with, please let us
know. Many routes that should be legal bridleways or upgraded
and kept open are lost due to apathy and lack of knowledge.
Details of Six riders using it regularly over the past twenty
years makes a route worth looking at!
Carmarthenshire County
Council and Countryside Council for Wales have upgraded their
policy of actively helping people to enjoy the countryside and
are even more PRO-Horses than ever. The more support and
feedback they get, the more they can help us. They still need to
justify their spending so let us know what you would like done
so we can collate the information and present it to them. Photos
of problems are always helpful.
Currently
Under Scrutiny:
Disused Quarry between
Pentregwenlais and Carmel
Please email us if you
would like horse access to the quarry. We now have an agreement
with CCW.
New gates have been erected
at the quarry entrance and large boulders and gates have been
put at the second entrance where horses could access the quarry.
We need to hear from you if
you or anybody you know has ridden in the quarry or seen horses
ridden in there during the past 20 years.
We have been in contact
with CCW who are now looking at the possibility of adding horse
friendly but motor-cycle deterrent gates.
UPDATE
Please email us
if you would like horse access to the quarry. We now have an
agreement with CCW.
WhiteMill:
Byway commencing at Pant
Teg Chapel (GR 483252)
Byway commencing at Llanfihangel Uwch Gwili (GR489229) leading
to Penbwlch Isaf
I have been asked by an active walking group to look at these
byways which are practically impassable in order to put pressure
on the council to get them open. I am asking you to have a look
and tell me if you would use them if they could be opened. Has
anyone ridden them ever?
I will be writing to the council asking them to open them and I
need some letters of support from you or
emails.

805490 (map ref) (187) wire alongside cattlegrid. Both gates
locked . Cannot access track over cattle grid.
This track has no public status and therefore is by permission
only. If you think this should have public status and should be
recorded as a bridleway then we need names of 6 riders who have
used it over a 20yr period or we need historical documentation
to show it was previously used by horses.

838348 (187) County road with council sign stating bridleway.
Obstructed by a shale pile and 2 wired up gates and a narrow
track with steep drop on one side.
This I have emailed the council about and have asked for them to
conduct a site visit to assess how long it will take to remove
the obstructions.

829328 footpath bridge needs improving as bridleway extends both
sides.
This route 37/p/2 is on the old boundary to Powys and has been
recorded as a footpath on one side and a bridleway on the other.
We need to submit an application to have it upgraded to a
bridleway. Can the riders that raised this one please contact us
again.
Do you know who the
landowner is? Are they happy to have it upgraded to a bridleway?
