NEWS AND INFORMATION
Cycle Track Cross Hands to Llanelli
This route starts by the Cinema in Cross Hands
and extends to Woodland Park Tumble and on to
Llanelli. This is occupying footpaths and if there is
sufficient interest and user evidence we will
approach the landowners for permissive access.
Contact Karen Burch if you want or have ridden
this track, previously a disused railway line.
CIRCULAR ROUTES
I am approaching the Highways Dept regarding the maintenance
of byways and unsurfaced highways and I need some local
circular routes that would be used by riders if the routes
with green dots on the OS map were open and maintained. It
doesn't have to be a totally off road route but does need to
provide useful access to riders locally in the form of
avoiding a busy road or making a local circular route.
UPDATE:
Carms Riders, highways, and access representatives
now meet quarterly to discuss issues pertaining to bridleways
and unsurfaced roads in Carmarthenshire.. Any issues to be
notified to Karen Burch at the address below. Please include a
map detailing what the problem is and suggestions for
improvements.
Emails through this site and maps to Fernside, Blacklion Road,
Gorslas, Carms, SA146SB
Thanks
Karen
Highway Code Update
The
newly updated version of the Highway Code is now available

been significant changes relevant to riders on the road.

information at www.direct.gov.uk
QCA Accreditation
The Riding & Road Safety Test has gained accreditation from
the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA), which is a
great achievement. As the Test is now part of the National
Qualification Framework (NQF), not only is funding more
accessible to trainers but it also means that the test
demonstrates to the regulators that it complies with their
rigorous and stringent quality assurance assessment and
process.
Riding & Road Safety Examiners will be required to undertake
training in the process and
marking of the QCA Test Papers. Dates for training follow,
and, as always, the office can be contacted for more
information:

We are always looking for
help and assistance in the locality
of upcoming rides for the following jobs.
1. Assist in marking it with me the weekend and weekdays
before (in the evenings after 6)
2. Make lunches for the helpers the night before (this need
not be a rider but can be a mum or husband)
3. Assist with unmarking it after the ride preferably the
day or 2 days
afterwards.
Obviously I always need help with parking marshalling,
manning a checkpoint, time keeper-logging riders out and
back , checking on the checkpoints at intervals and someone
making tea at the venue.
Without this help the rides cannot take place and as a group
we have
sufficient members for this to be spread around. You will
have a fun day.
Please
e-mail us an offer to help if you can spare the time.

Cynghordy area
Bridleway 37, 59, & 60
Caroline Fergusson from the Access and Rights of Way
office at
Carmarthenshire County Council has informed us that
works are nearly
complete on the Cynghordy area Bridleway 37/59 and 60-
see pictures below. Once the works are complete,
due in March, it would be nice to arrange a local ride
there just to launch them with some publicity photos.
Please revisit our website to check when it will be.
All details to be posted in due course.
A big thank you to Caroline for her hard work and to the
riders involved in discussing this with her
